GIS 121: Mapping Project 3 - Bike Routes

  1. I really like that you have the unused bike route roads in a faint grey in the background. This should definitely help a biker orient themselves as opposed to just having only the bike routes visible. Your choice of hillshade color ramp looks great. Depending on the audience, you may want to cut some of the categories in the legend if it is a general biking audience. However, if it is meant more for regional planning, these categories are useful.

  2. Where did you get all the descriptions for the routes in your legend? It may be a little hard to discern differences in color symbols for different routes. But everything else looks awesome.

  3. Your legends rock. Great map. The only minor suggestion I have might be to add the state bike routes layer...will frame the Asheville recommendations in the existing state route recommendations.

  4. I really like the color scheme on this map, very pleasing to the eye (or at least my eye). I'm with the others on the legend...I think the colors are a little hard to discern on the legend. Maybe fattening up the lines a little would help with telling the difference in color without completely changing the symbol. I think the legend is a little dominant on this map.
